Additional Information

Do you enjoy bushwalking and exploring in the bush!

Join our local bushwalking guide Tristan for a unique experience during the January school holidays.

The route will either be a return walk to and from Carlons Farm or a loop via Narrowneck and Medlow. As it is summertime we will stay close to the main access into the Megalong.

The distance will be approx. 50 km which includes unsealed roads and firetrails. The unique feature of this hike will be picturesque and pretty Galong Creek Box Canyon (Pink Granite) which flows into the Coxs River just upstream of its confluence with the Jenolan River.

There will be 4.5 km of creek walking in shallow water (knee deep), rock scrambles, cascades and at least one waterfall to negotiate.

Katoomba to Carlons Farm via Cliff Drive, Megalong Road and Green Gully (1D) OR Katoomba to Carlons Farm via Narrowneck Plateau and Medlow Gap (2D). Carlons Farm Loop via Lower Ironpot Ridge, Tinpot Hill, Coxs River and Galong Creek (2D).

Self catering applies and public transport is available to and from the venue. We won't need to carry all food for the 5 days as a food drop can be arranged for Carlons Farm. Please bring 5 days of food to Katoomba.

Partial attendance can be arranged, road access is available to (2WD) dry weather / (4WD) wet weather to Carlons Farm via Blackheath and Megalong Road.

This activity is suitable for younger Scouts who are learning to hike with their pack.
