Additional Information

Introduction

This overnight hike will focus on navigation skills and orientation in the landscape. The route is tracked however less defined in places and fades in and out. This provides an ideal opportunity to practice the use of map and compass. We will demonstrate the use of GPS as a secondary reference. The main climb will be down to and up from the Wollangambe River. Water can be refilled from the Wollangambe River.

We expect to do some off track as part of the experience. There are spectacular views and natural features. The route is 9 km each way. A total distance of 18 km will be accumulated.

Route

Bell Station to Wollangambe Crater via Sandham Road, Bell Perimeter Road, Centre of the Universe (Pagoda) and Wollangambe River.

There are no cost involved except for self catering and transport.
